Happy Anniversary Babe! Today Jason and I have been married for 4 great years! It's amazes me how fast time flies by and all of the changes that take place. I feel so blessed to be married to my best friend. Jason is such a hard worker and always puts my needs first. I look forward to spending from here to eternity with you. Happy Anniversary Jason, I Love You!!!

So I thought I would make some lists of 4's to recap our 4 years of marriage.

4 things we enjoy doing together.

1. Working in the yard.

2. Spending time at the Condo in Park City

3. Night skiing at Wolf Mountain

4. Watching reality t.v. (So You Think You Can Dance, American Idol, The Bachelor, just to name a few...)

4 Major changes that have occurred.

1. Owned 3 homes. (No we don't enjoy moving around, I think we have finally found the place we can call home for many years to come.)

2. Jason found a job that he really enjoys and will enjoy making it his career.

3. Gone through the fertility ups and downs and just about completed the in vitro process.

4. Gotten pregnant and started our family! (I couldn't think of a fourth so I'm being hopeful that this will be the biggest change that is about to happen to us.)

4 Things we have learned about each other.

1. Jason is a night owl and stays up until 12 or 1. Kaylee is ready for bed at 9. I love to sleep.

2. Kaylee's ideal Saturday is spent accomplishing as much as possible. Jason's ideal Saturday is spent accomplishing as little as possible.

3. Jason likes being the life of the party. Kaylee likes being the hostess of the party.

4. Jason has to talk through is problems. Kaylee likes to keep things to herself.

Embryo Transfer
On Monday we went in for the embryo transfer. This procedure was not as complex as the egg retrieval. We showed up at 10:00 and they gave me something to relax. The doctor then came in and talked to us about the quality of the embryos and whether or not we wanted to transfer 1 or 2. We knew all along we wanted to transfer 2, hopefully giving us the best chance of getting pregnant. So once the medicine kicked in the doctor, nurse, and embryologist came in and transferred the embryo's just the same way they would do an artificial insemination. It only took about 5 minutes, and then they had me just lay there for an hour and take it easy.

Here is a picture of our embryo's at the blastocyst stage. This is what they look like 5 days after fertilization. Kind of scary if you ask me, but the doctor said they looked perfect. One was a stage 1 and the other a stage 2. The difference between them are about 12 hours. The next steps to this process are: I'm required to stay on bedrest for 5 days to give them the best chance to implant, continue getting a progesterone shot every morning, and be patient until Aug. 8th when we go in for blood work to see if it has worked.

We are so excited and feel really good about how things have gone so far. We are so grateful for our wonderful family and friends who have shown so much love and support towards us. Hopefully we will have some exciting posts in the near future!!!

A Success!!
This morning at 7:45 we went in for the egg retrieval. With this whole process, this was the procedure I was most nervous about and it turned out to be nothing. The first thing they did when we arrived was start an IV, to try and rehydrate my body. This was the worst part of the day. Once they rehydrated me they took us back to the room where they do the procedure and hooked me up to some monitors and gave me some medicine in my IV that completely made me oblivious to what was going on. That was my first time to have an IV and I was shocked at how fast the medicine kicks in. I don't really remember anything until they took me back to the recovery room. Jason said it was pretty interesting to watch them put the needle into each follicle, suck the egg out and watch the follicle shrink down to nothing. It still amazes me what they are capable of doing. I feel so blessed to live at a time when procedures like this are possible.

They ended up taking 23 good eggs that they will fertilize and let grow. The Doctor said he hasn't seen a retrieval go that well and have a woman produce that many good eggs, so we were really excited about that!

Getting ready to start the procedure. Not knowing what to expect and feeling a little anxious!

The only thing they are worried about now is having me hyperstimulate. So they are going to watch that closely the next couple of days to make sure my body is doing what it's suppose to do. I have a list of things I have to watch for and do. One of the things on the list is to drink between 32 and 64 ounces of gatorade daily. This might be a problem for someone who hates the taste of gatorade!

Jason was kind enough to go and get me a life time supply of it.

This is all I've been able to get down today. I might have a problem!

The next step is to wait and see how each embryo grows and develops. They will do the embryo transfer on Sat. or Mon. as long as I don't hyperstimulate. If for some reason my body doesn't react well and I do have problems, then they would freeze the embryo's for a month or two and let my body recover and then they would do the transfer. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

Jason and I, just want to thank everyone for their support and love. We appreciate all those who have prayed for us and know that they are being heard and answered!

3rd Times a Charm!

It seems like everything I've done in the last few days happened it 3's. I have driven to Salt Lake the last three mornings in a row, had 3 ultrasounds, blood drawn 3 times, and 3 shots in the stomach each morning. I'm kind of tired of the number 3. Good news though, the hormones are working GREAT and the doctor said things couldn't look any better. It looks like I have about 20 good sized eggs that they will be able to use. They have scheduled our egg retrieval for Wednesday morning. I'm getting a little anxious about the procedure and can't wait until it's over. The next hurdle we have to cross is the hcg shot which prepares your body for the egg retrieval. This is the first shot that requires a big needle and it's in the hip. Jason has to give that to me at 8:30 tonight. Wish me Luck!!

All in all Jason and I feel really good about how things have gone. And were really excited to think that we could be pregnant in just a couple of days!!

Flowers, Flowers, Flowers...

Today I have some free time because Jason is gone to Scout Camp, so I thought I would play around with this blogging thing and try to figure out what I'm doing. With help from Rachael I figured out how to upload more than one picture at a time and how to type in between them. I now need help knowing how to rotate my pictures. I told you I was completely dumb when it comes to technology! So any pointers would be greatly appreciated!!

Many of you know that last fall we put our new home we built up for sale and moved into an older home. There were many reasons why we decided to move, but one of the main reasons we fell in love with the home we bought was the yard. Our home before was built in a new subdivision with a west facing backyard. That made for some really hot barbeque's and we weren't able to enjoy being outside. So when we saw this yard we instantly fell in love.

We have really enjoyed working together to make it our own. We love the fact that it has a creek that flows through it, and it is so nice to be completely secluded from the neighbors.

One challenge we faced was trying to decided where to put the garden. There are not many spots that get enough sun for anything to grow. We decided to put it in the same spot the previous owners had theirs. The tomatoes and peppers have grown really tall, but I'm worried they won't have enough sun to ripen.

The Box Elder Creek
This is probably our favorite thing about the yard. Although this is the creek that flooded a few years back. It completely destroyed our neighbors basement. Luckily for us our house sits up high enough we really don't have to worry. Although we are required to have flood insurance, just in case.
I hope I haven't completely bored you to death, but there is no better way for me to learn than to play around with it and practice posting.

Finally after 3 1/2 years of the ups and downs of trying to start a family we've begun the In Vitro process. We're nervous and excited and everything in between. I started with the first round of shots in the stomach on the 29th of June. That medicine is used to put you into pre-menopause. It's real fun to experience hot flashes when your only 27. This past Monday I started the next series of shots. I give myself 3 shots in the stomach every morning. So far all these extra hormones haven't messed with me too much. (I hope, maybe Jason has a different opinion..) Starting on Saturday I get to go to the U everyday or every other day to have ultrasounds to make sure my ovaries aren't over stimulated. And hopefully within a week to a week and a half this will all be past us and we will be waiting patiently to see if it worked! I'm so glad I live at a time that the medical field is so advanced. It amazes me what they can do!!

Welcome!

After several months of enjoying other peoples blogs, I have finally created one for myself. I'm not very good with computers or expressing myself so this will be a learning experience.
