Summer Project

 BEFORE

AFTER

We are always looking for ways to improve things around our yard and house and the shed was in need of a make-over.
It's amazing what a little bit of paint and a couple of days of work will do. I have always LOVED the color yellow and that is the color of the siding of our house so we went for it.
I LOVE how it turned out!!!!

The kids are always wanting to help pain, but because it is usually in our house I don't let them. This was the perfect opportunity for them to get in on the action.
I was able to keep Olivia out of the paint the entire project except for the last 10 minutes when she decided to climb on the table while I was busy cleaning up!!!

14 YEARS

There is no one I would rather go on this journey in life with than Jason!!!

Marriage has been good to us.
Although we've had a few up's and down's over the years, I wouldn't trade or change any of it.
Each year gets better and better (although I wish the aging process would SLOW down) and I can't wait to see what year
FOURTEEN has in store.

Another one bites the dust

I don't know what it is about our family and broken bones, but Khloe gets to have a turn.

Last weekend we had Jason's family over for a BBQ and things got a little rough on the trampoline and Khloe ended up falling off and fracturing her collar bone.

She can be very stubborn and dramatic at times so we didn't take her in right away, but when things didn't improve we took her to the instacare after church the following day.

There's not much we can do but try and keep it in place for the next 4-6 weeks while it heals. Not really the way we wanted to spend the last month of summer:((

Pioneer Day

For Pioneer Day this year we went out to Bear River City's celebration. It was seriously the cutest celebration in the cutest town. It reminded me so much of growing up and how we use to celebrate. We started the day with a parade, followed by kid games, yummy food, and a kids rodeo.

We ended the day with Kyler smashing his finger in the water faucet and 3 tired and dirty kids.

Lucy Turns 2

Happy 2nd Birthday Lucy!!!

We celebrated Lucy's birthday with a doggy cake and playing in the irrigation. She is officially out of the puppy stage and turning into such a good dog. They kids LOVE her and we're glad she is part of our family.

I came across this cute story on Facebook and couldn't agree more.

WHY DOGS LIVE LESS THAN HUMAN
Here's the surprising answer of a 6 year old child.
...
Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.
I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn’t do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.
As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.
The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker‘s family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.
The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker’s Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that dogs' lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, ”I know why.”
Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I’d never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try and live.
He said, ”People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?” The six-year-old continued,
”Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay for as long as we do.”
Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.
Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:
• When your loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
• Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
• Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.
• Take naps.
• Stretch before rising.
• Run, romp, and play daily.
• Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
• Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
• On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
• On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
• When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
• Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
• Be faithful.
• Never pretend to be something you’re not.
• If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
• When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.
That's the secret of happiness that we can learn from a good dog.

Tournament #2

We were pretty excited for Kyler's 2nd baseball tournament, mostly because it was held in Montpelier which meant we could stay in
BEAR LAKE!!!

Kyler's been playing with this team for 5 months now and they are slowly getting better and better.

Both days our games were split up, one in the morning one in the afternoon. So we decided to head to the beach to relax and cool off.
We had just enough time to get to the beach, eat some lunch, and swim for an hour or so, and then head back for game 2.  We worried it wouldn't be enough time, but with a 1 year old it ended up being PERFECT:)

Bear Lake in July can be CRAZY, but we lucked out and found a little cabin at the KOA to stay at.

It was a fun weekend spent with our little family.
