One Step Closer...

So yesterday Jason and I had an incredible experience of meeting a potential birthmom. Our caseworker had called us on Thursday night to tell us that she had a birthmom that she felt like we were a good match for. We couldn't believe it! We were so excited for our appointment on Monday and extremely nervous. We had no idea of what to expect, being the first time meeting a birthmom. It only took a couple of minutes of being in the same room with her and her parents for the nerves to go away. I don't think it could have gone any better. We totally felt at peace talking with this sweet girl and her parents. We enjoyed getting to know each other and was surprised with how many little similarities we had in common. I know we have only met her once and she is still making her decision, but we already have a special place in our hearts for her. We can't imagine how hard this must be for her. We love and respect her so much for making this decision to place her baby.
So now we just wait to hear back from our caseworker on what her decision is. I have had so much fun looking at baby boy stuff and already have ideas of how to do the nursery. The really exciting part is she is due on September 30th. I could possible be a mommy any day. That would truly be a miracle!
So as I wait to hear back from our caseworker I am keeping this quote from President Hinckley in mind. It says:
"Faith and willingness to believe will chase away pessimism and replace it with hope and confidence. It is a source of immense personal comfort and peace of mind to have the knowledge that God is with us, and that even when there is no way--- perhaps particularly when there appears to be no way--- He will open the way."

Goodbye Summer....Hello Fall

We couldn't let the last weekend of summer slip by without doing something fun. So we packed our bags and spent a fun weekend at Bear Lake with the Cooks. It was the perfect weekend to go to Bear Lake. The crowds were gone and the weather was perfect (well almost, during the night a thunderstorm rolled through with wind, rain, and lightening that kept us up for most of the night.)
Gary and Shirley were nice enough to rent the family a boat for a few hours. It was a ton of fun and we can't wait to do it again next year. Thanks Guys!!

Soaking up some sun rays.

Laker wasn't to fond of the boat when we first started, but he eventually got use to it and by the end I think he was having fun.

Jake trying to impress us with a barrel roll.

Michael loved riding in the tube. He had the biggest smile on his face entire time.

Jason going for a spin around the lake.

Our captain for the day.

I'm kind of a wimp and stayed in the boat the entire time. I'm not to fond of being pulled around in cold water holding on for dear life.

We stayed overnight at the KOA. It was the perfect time of year to stay there. We pretty much had the entire place to ourselves. Thanks for a fun weekend Cook Family!!

And on the way home we were able to kick off the start of a new season. The leaves were beautiful and the Christmas music was great. (Jason always listens to Christmas music when he drives through Logan Canyon). Welcome Fall, I'm so glad you are here.

Labor Day...

32 quarts of grape juice + 22 pints of salsa + 12 jars of peach jam +15 pints of fruit cocktail +
20 bell pepper sliced and put into small bags to be frozen = 1 exhausting Labor Day

(Although it felt wonderful to stock the freezer and the shelves in the food storage room. )
Fair Week...
The last week of August we always enjoy going to the annual Box Elder County Fair. It is always the last big event of the summer before school starts. It is four days filled with a parade, great food, music, animals, booths, and visiting with old friends. This year Jason decided to have a booth for his insurance business. So we pretty much lived at the fair for 4 days straight from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. I thought it was going to be fun and nice to have a place to sit, but it got old pretty quick.

Enjoying the parade with the siblings(missed having Kimberly there, maybe next year.)
Jason's insurance booth.

My little brother Ty decided to show a steer this year. He got 5th overall out of 100 steers. Way to go Ty!!

Kami, Annie, Mom, and Dad watching the steer show. This was the first year Jason had ever been out at the fair during the day. He had no idea what went into taking an animal to the fair. He was rather impressed.

Enjoying family night at the rodeo. The best part was the hamburgers and the specialty act. They had 3 little monkey's dressed up in little cowboy clothes riding around on sheep dogs that were herding goats. Pretty amazing!!

One of the best parts of the fair was being able to tend my little niece Annie while here parents were helping with the auction and rodeo. I can't get enough of this little one and her kisses!!

This picture pretty much sums up how I felt on Saturday night at closing time. Hot, tired, and ready for the fair to be over.
