Goodbye...

January has been an extra cold, snowy, and LOOONG month.
While typing this the weather just came on t.v
I thought maybe I was just sick of Winter, but
this January went in the record books with 23.8" snowfall, snowiest in 17 years.
and an average temp. of 18.8 degrees, coldest in 64 years.

Here's a throw back Thursday photo.
The snow we've seen this winter reminds me of when I
was little. The pictures below shows me when I was a little girl by a huge pile of snow and Kyler sitting on our huge pile of snow.

I'm glad to say goodbye to January, and say HELLO
to less snow, warmer temperatures, and hopefully
a lot more SUN!!!!!!

Celebrating

So last weekend Jason planned a weekend
getaway to celebrate my birthday.
(Since my birthday falls a week after Christmas we held off celebrating for a few weeks.
It actually worked out perfectly. It was nice to have something to
look forward to and it was so nice to see the sun again.)

We started the weekend by tubing up in Park City.
The sun was shining, the temperatures were warm, and it was the perfect way to spend a Saturday.

After several runs down the hill together, Kyler
wanted to try going by himself.

He is such a brave kid.
A couple years ago we went tubing at the same place and I was nervous to go down alone at first.

After we finished tubing we had a yummy lunch at Kneader's and
soaked up as much sun as possible before heading back down in
the cold and yucky inversion.

Before heading to our Hotel we made a stop at Gardner Village.
I've been wanting to redo our bedroom.
I was able to find a quilt that I liked, but now I have to wait
6-8 weeks for it to get in stock.

Jason booked us a room at Little America. It was my first time staying there and I was very impressed.

Kyler thinks that going on vacation means swimming.
So we made sure we had plenty of swim time.

We finished off our little get away by checking out the
new Scheels store in Sandy.

Such a fun store!!!
Kyler enjoyed the shooting range, mini bowling, and
riding the ferris wheel.

What do you do....

when the forecast looks like this for yet another week?

Play inside with all of mom's sensory table toys from preschool.

Help make chocolate chips cookies, even though that doesn't
help with mom's new year resolutions.

Master the skill of putting puzzles together.
Then come up with other ways to arrange the pieces,
which seems more fun.

Have lots of swimming time in the bath tub.
Adding bubbles and glow sticks makes it especially fun.

And watch too many episodes of Max and Ruby each day.

But when it's been several weeks of the same routine, dad saves the day and plans something fun. This is how our weekend looked.
So nice to see the sun, blue sky's, and actually feel warm!!!

Like Father...Like Son

So with all the snow we've been getting
Kyler has decided to embrace
a positive aspect of it.
Everyday for about 2 weeks he would insist that
we brought Jason's ski's in the house so he could check them out.
So after one of our recent snow storms Jason got out a little pair
of ski's and the duct tape. He taped Kyler's boots to the
ski's and had him give it a try.
(Totally redneck if you ask me, but it worked.)

Kyler loved it and was actually pretty good for the
first time. We've debated back and forth
if this should be the year to take him to an actual
ski resort and try it with the right equipment.

I think Jason as been dreaming of this day since Kyler
was born. Skiing with his son is probably at the top of
his favorite things that he can do in this life.

I'm dreaming of the day when he is actually old enough to
take in a whole day of skiing with his dad.
Especially after a day like today. Jason spent 9-3 skiing with a work buddy, then headed from one resort to another to do some night skiing with a friend. It makes for a LONG week when Saturday rolls around and their is no break.

Hope you are enjoying this cold, snowy month.
