So let's rewind back two weeks from today.
It was the first day of preschool and I was getting ready to greet 20 new students.
I was as prepared as could be and had a ton of fun things planned for those 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Half way through the morning session I get a phone call from Jason saying that he was headed down to the Davis Hospital because his dad wasn't in the best shape and they might loose him.
After hearing that news I still had to finish the morning session and do it all over again when the afternoon kids arrive.
Wednesday comes around and I'm out at the Bird Refuge on our first field trip with those darling 20 kids when I get a text from our case worker telling me to call her back as soon as I can. Once again I still have to finish what I'm doing before I can find out what is going on.
After a very busy and some what stressful week I'm hoping that Thursday would be normal.
It wasn't going to happen.
I get a phone call about 5 minutes before my morning kids are getting ready to go home. It was my mom and the first thing she says is, "It's not life threatening, but Kimberly is being life flighted to the U." She had been in an accident at work and been burned pretty bad. After hearing that news I had to pull it together and try not to worry myself sick while I get ready to teach for another 2 hours.
After a CRAZY and very stressful week I'm glad to report that:
Jason's dad has been moved from the hospital to a skilled nursing facility and is doing much better.
and Kimberly is healing fast and was blessed that it wasn't much worse.
but that leaves us with one unfinished item,
the text from our caseworker!!!
So apparently there was a 17 year old girl who was really interested in us and wanted to meet us as soon as possible. She is expecting a baby boy at the end of October. We had scheduled an appointment to have a face to face with her last Wednesday. Well an hour before we were suppose to meet we get a phone call from our caseworker telling us that she had been in a fender bender and we would have to reschedule the appointment.
We were worried and hoped that she and the baby were okay, and were a little disappointed that we wouldn't be meeting her that day.
After all, we had been anticipating this day for a week and worrying about it too.
Our caseworker told us that we would reschedule something for this week and that there was nothing to worry about.
Right, how are we not suppose to worry? We are only talking about the chance of us adding another child to our family.Something we have prayed and been waiting awhile for.
It's not that easy!!!
Well after waiting around all weekend we finally get a call from our caseworker last night telling us that the birthmom has decided to parent instead of place the baby.
Lovely,
Once again our hopes and dreams come crashing down.
I'm just glad this time around we didn't have to go through the emotional stress of the face to face and
cost of giving a gift ($100.00) all for nothing.
I can't imagine how difficult it must be for a young girl
trying to decide what is best for her baby and
trying to make those hard decisions.
But I can tell you how hard it is to struggle with infertility!!!
And how frustrating it is to have our hope built up and then with one little phone call or text something that you want so badly is not going to happen.
We have struggled with infertility now for 7 1/2 years and it doesn't seem to get any easier.
In the past 9 months we have had 2 disappointing experiences with adoption.
I'm just hoping that the 3rd time is a charm and that eventually we will be able to give
Kyler a little brother or sister.
