"Staycation"
With summer quickly coming to an end, Jason and I didn't want one weekend to slip by without doing something fun outdoors. So last weekend we decided to go camping. I love to camp and I must say this camping trip ranks up there on my list.
We found the perfect camping spot surrounded by lush green trees.
A cute little bridge crossing a creek.

A refreshing creek that soothed us to sleep.

Electricity so we were able to take our tv/vcr combo to watch movies.

And we were able to take Dora with us. And the best part was it was only 20 feet from our back door. Camping in the backyard is the best!! I would recommend it.

Surprise...
Last week it was my mother-in-laws 60th birthday. We wanted to do something special for her, because she is always so thoughtful and does so much for her family. So we decided to throw her a surprise birthday party with all of her family and friends. The great thing was she had no clue about it and was surprised.
We held the party out at Crystal Springs in Honeyville and hired a band that played 60's and 70's music.
Jason and his mom.

I was very relieved at this point in the party. Everything was set up, decorated, and the food was ready to serve. We decided to have a Hawaiian theme and serve Hawaiian haystacks. It takes a lot of work mentally and physically to prepare food for 100 people. I was glad my mom was willing to help me. I couldn't have done it without her.

Trudy and Boyd were a huge help getting Shirley out to Crystal Springs on time and coming up with a reason why they were driving out that way. Thanks guys!!

Rachael made this beautiful cake for Shirley.

The birthday girl was a great dancer. She had everyone dancing with her. She had a permanent smile on her face the whole night. I think she really enjoyed the night.

A picture of the family.
The only thing that went wrong that night was it decided to rain for about 10 minutes. Just long enough to get all of the food and decorations wet. It seems like anytime I decided to have a party outdoors it ends up raining on the party. It did make it a lot cooler so I guess that was one plus.

Happy Birthday Shirley!! We hope you enjoyed your birthday.
