This month in Relief Society I taught the lesson,
"Peace and Contentment through Temporal Self-Reliance".
I have really enjoyed studying and preparing each month, but this lesson in particular hit home for me.
President Hinckley stated,
"Children need to work with their parents-to wash dishes with them, to mop floors with them, to mow lawns, to prune trees and shrubbery, to paint and fix up and clean up and do a hundred other things where they will learn that labor is the price of cleanliness and progress and prosperity."
As a mother I feel like I'm failing miserably in this area.
I know it is super important to teach children the value of work, but at times I find it so much easier to just do it myself than taking the time to teach and have them work along side me.
Kyler is at an age where he resists and complains any time we ask him to do any sort of work. Khloe on the other hand always asks if she can help. One of the things we were excited about when we moved to our new home is that we could have a BIG garden. Pulling weeds, picking produce, and helping irrigate has been a good opportunity for Kyler to learn to work.
