One of our biggest goals for the summer was to
get Kyler potty trained.
(the other being getting rid of his binky, haven't tackled that one yet.)
So last Monday we woke up all excited and full of
excitement hoping that would rub of on Kyler.
He and I headed to Walmart to get some potty treats, new underwear, and a reward that he could earn if he tried his hardest.
Monday and Tuesday started off pretty good. He quickly learned the system and probably had a dozen treat each day.
I should have gone with smaller treats.
He still had a few accidents, but at least he was willing to try.
Wednesday he must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed, because he refused to even go near the potty.
After several accidents just in the morning hours, mom had had enough and put him in a diaper and decided to take a BREAK!!!
We tried again Thursday morning and haven't looked back since.
Saturday he earned his reward and we had a pool party.
I think part of the success came from letting him pee outside.
Kind of white trash, I know, but it seemed to get him interested again and honestly it is so much nicer keeping the mess outside.
He has gone this whole week without having any accidents!!!
I hope it's not a fluke and he really has this potty training down.
He still wakes up in the mornings wet so I haven't tried keeping him in underwear during the night. I've heard once they start waking up dry then they are ready. I'm just happy to have come this far in such a short amount of time.
