Banned from Blogging...

I love reading friends and families blogs to see what they are up to, but I think Jason is to the point he would like to ban me from reading. The reason why is it effects my mood and emotions so much. Just this week, 5 people that I know have announced that they are expecting. Don't get me wrong I am excited for them and wish them the best of luck, but for me it's like putting salt in a cut that never seems to heal. I know we were put on the earth to be tested and that Heavenly Father doesn't give us more than we can handle, but I feel like I'm flunking this test. I hate how this trial has completely consumed me. I think about it at least a 100 times a day. I wake up every morning not wanting to go to work, because I want to be a stay at home mom. When I am at work it makes me so mad that the majority of my class comes from homes where the parents don't realize what an important job being a parent is. They could care less about sitting down and reading with their child or helping with homework. This February will mark 4 years that we have been trying to get pregnant. I know for many couples who have struggled to get pregnant, 4 years is nothing. For some they have had to wait 10 years or more, but to me it seems like an eternity. I just hope I can be strong enough, and that one day I will look back and it will seem like it never happened.
Sorry if I was too negative, but sometimes it's good to vent a little.

Hurray!!!
We've finally been approved for adoption. After 4 months of never ending paper work, interviews, classes, and home study visits we have completed the process. Now the real fun begins. Waiting for a birthmom to pick us.

Christmas 2008...
It's the last day of my Christmas break and I wanted to post some of the highlights of my past 16 days that I had off from work. It has been so nice to have a full 2 weeks with no work to celebrate the holidays, get together with family, eat great food, have a birthday, and accomplish a long to do list. We feel so blessed to live so close to both of our families and be able to share in traditions and create new memories.

We had a fun Christmas morning with Dora. Our original plan was to go to my parents house and open presents in the morning, but because of the snow storm we wouldn't have been able to get up to their house so we spent the morning at home. Dora was excited to play with her new toys and kept us entertained most of the morning.
After the roads had been cleared we went to the Cooks for a wonderful brunch and opened gifts. One of the fun things about being married is being able to celebrate with 2 families and experience new traditions.
Then on Christmas night we went out to my parents home for a nice dinner and opened more gifts. It was kind of a weird Christmas for my mom, sister, and brother they spent most of the day alone with not much going on. Because of the snow storm my dad had to push snow from 4 a.m. till 4 p.m. So my little brother had to wait until 5 p.m. to open his gifts. I felt bad for my brother who works for the state, he spent his entire Christmas (26 hours) in a snow plow and missed all of the festivities.

Dora was worn out from playing with all of her new toys!

New Year's Eve is probably one of my least favorite holidays. We always have a hard time deciding what to do. You feel like you should be out celebrating, but I always worry about being out on the roads and it's always so cold. So this year we spent a few hours out at my grandparents house playing cards and then ended the night at Jason's parents house playing the Wii.
The boys getting a little creative with the party hats!

I decided to do a project during my time off. When we moved into our home 1 year ago we decided not to paint the 2 extra bedrooms upstairs until we knew what the coming year and the fertility treatments would bring. So now that things didn't go according to our plan I decided to paint and give one of the rooms a make-over. We had been using this room as our office/computer room and I thought it need a little excitement!
Before...

After...

There are still a few things I need to do, but I was very pleased how it turned out. I have to thank Jason for measuring and taping the stripes for me. I told him that's all I wanted for my birthday.
We had a great holiday season and look forward to starting a new year and all that comes with it.
