January's Little Things

It seems like EVERYONE complains about the month of January and I'm no exception to that:)) I thrive on being outside and when the sun only shines a couple days out of the month it sends me into a seasonal depression. However, I do enjoy the slower pace of life and the month usually has some sort of home project!!!

We celebrated New Year's Day with a little family sledding.

Our church time moved to 9:00 and Olivia FINALLY
started going to nursery!!!

We took advantage of some sunshine and went outside to play in it.

Game night at grandma's house took an exciting turn of events when the power went out just as we were getting started.

Home project for the month...Shiplap on the family room wall in the basement.

Skiing and Sushi for the boys one Saturday afternoon.

Field trip to Papa Murphy's pizza.

Mailing out preschool registration packets for next year with the best little helper.

Winter Staycation

Last weekend we woke up in the morning and decided last minute to go on an overnight staycation. We spent the night in a hotel at Thanksgiving Point, walked around Cabela's, let the kids swim, and the highlight for Olivia and Khloe was having a sleepover in the same bed.

The next morning we woke up and headed up beautiful Provo Canyon to Sundance Ski Resort.
We had free lift tickets which made it even better!!!!

I felt like this was the first time during the month of January that the sun actually came out and I was able to soak up some vitamin D!! When I wasn't skiing Olivia and I sat around the fire pit,  enjoyed the sun on our faces, and enjoyed the people watching.
(The Sundance Film Festival was going on so we saw ALL TYPES!!)

We took turns skiing together as a family.
This was the first time that I was able to ski with Olivia.
She AMAZES me with what she can do at her age.

On our Winter Bucket List we've wanted to go to the Ice Castles in Midway, but have never wanted to make a drive up there for just that. For Christmas the kids got money from their great grandparents and were told to use it to create a memory with the family.  We figured since we were only 30 minutes away that we would get tickets and go there before heading home.

I've always wondered if it would be worth the cost, cold, and crowds?!!! I can honestly say, we all LOVED it.
We planned to go on a Monday night when the crowds were smaller and we hit it up at 5:00 so we could see it in the daylight and then right when it got dark and it worked out PERFECTLY.

Both girls loved it and didn't want to leave after being there for
2 HOURS. Kyler enjoyed it, but would have enjoyed being able to go off and explore on his own.
The ice slides were a ton of fun and it is AMAZING what people are able to create.
