Home Away From Home

I have always been a little jealous of new mothers and the time they get to spend in the hospital bonding with their newborn, before all the craziness of being home brings.

With that being said we have enjoyed our time together as a new
little family of 4, but we are SO ready to be home!!!
Today is our 9th day staying in Mesquite.
When you adopt a baby from a different state you have to wait for the ICPC to go through before having permission to cross state line. We were told that Utah and Nevada work really well together and it usually only takes 4-5 days.

Our luck would have it that the lady who handles adoption cases for Nevada retired on Friday and our case happened to be the first one for the new lady. Khloe's adoption has been a
 more difficult case than normal.
(birthfather hasn't relinquished his rights, hospital wouldn't release her medical records, running the adoption through Utah law, and the whole mess with the State of Nevada and guardianship rights.)

Luckily we ended up staying at a really nice, clean, and quiet condo/extended stay hotel. The weather has been perfect 75+ and Mesquite is a really nice, safe, and slow pace town.
(not what you would expect as you pass through on the freeway.)

Kyler is in heaven being able to swim everyday.
Most days we have the pool to ourselves and spend at least 3-4 hours enjoying it.

Newborns and laundry go hand in hand.
Luckily the hotel has free washers and dryers and they are just across the hall from our room.

We have spent a lot of time going on walks.
Our favorite spot was a path that went past a farmers pasture that had goats, ducks, chickens, baby colt, peacock, and a couple of pigs all in the same pasture.

Kyler has enjoyed cruising his scooter up and down the halls
and we have spent a good amount of time checking out the toys at Wal-mart.

We had a happy surprise when my mom and sister came down for a few nights to visit.
It was so nice having a change of routine and having the extra help.

One of the days Jason and Khloe stayed back at the hotel while we took Kyler and Max and spent the
day in St. George. We spent the day shopping, playing in the water at the center of town, and eating at my favorite restaurant.

Our paper work finally arrived in Utah today and we are PRAYING that they can get to it and give us the approval to travel home, if not it looks like we will be until the first of next week:((

Easter Weekend...

Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays.
I love everything that it symbolizes:
new beginnings, new life, hope.
This Easter could not have been more perfect for our little family.

Luckily the week leading up to Easter we were able to
do some of our favorite traditions.

Dying Eggs for FHE

Grandparent's annual Easter Party

We lucked out and were able to take Kyler to an
Easter Egg hunt that the city of Mesquite put on. This was
his first year that he was really into it and excited.

Kyler was happy to see that the Easter Bunny found him, even
though we were staying in a hotel.

Aunt Kami was so thoughtful and planned a little Easter
Egg Hunt for Kyler and Max.

Easter Sunday was perfect.
