May's Litte Things

May is at the top of my favorite months in the year and also one of the busiest!! That all changed with all the corona stuff going on.

We waited to plant our garden until the last chance of frost or so we thought:( Khloe is the best helper when it comes to planting seeds.

Irrigation was turned in and we started watering our lawn.
It's just what we needed to perk up a Tuesday afternoon.

Olivia wasn't interested in planting seeds, but she sure LOVED planting the flowers.

I have STRUGGLED with my flowerbeds this year!!!
I'm not sure if it's the crazy swing in weather that we've had or the fact that we added some new leaf mulch to our beds this year and I think it was too hot for tender plants.

Our primary did a chalk the walk activity to encourage families to visit while still socially distancing. I'm not sure who had more fun, the girls or Jason?!!!

As a YW's Presidency we participated in the Senior parade for
GRADUATION!
It was fun to see the community come together to support those kids in such a weird time of life.

Celebrating cousin Annie's birthday and enjoying the
BEAUTIFUL summer evening.

It's What Fun Is!!!

We weren't sure if we would be able to use our season passes this year at Lagoon?!! Once we heard that they would be opening for the season we weren't sure if it was smart to go or not?
After weighing the pros and cons we decided to go for it.
Honestly it was probably one of the BEST days that we have had there over the past 6 years of having season passes.

The crowds were minimal, we walked onto any ride we wanted without waiting, the workers were cleaning the rides daily, and everyone was using hand sanitizer before and after EVERY ride.
I hope it stays like this the entire season!!!

Memorial Day Weekend

The older I get the more and more I enjoy Memorial Day weekend.
It's probably because the older I get the more I long for those days with loved ones that have passed on from this life.
As part of our Sunday activities (does anyone else feel like Sunday's are so LONG)
we drove around to 5 different cemeteries and told stories to our kids about each individual that had passed on.
I'm not sure if they really enjoyed it, except for the snacks that we had as we drove from place to place, but one day they will look back and appreciate where they came from.

Also, Memorial Day is the official kick off to summer/grilling season and what better way to ring it in than experimenting with a new smoker.

End of Year Activities

We wrapped up another year of school!!!
My 10th year of preschool.
Fourth grade for Kyler.
Kindergarten for Khloe.

It was a challenging year in many ways, but I think we all learned and made growth so that is all you can ask for, especially during a worldwide pandemic.

I felt like I needed to do something for preschool graduation and wanted to see the kids one last time for an official goodbye.
And if I'm being honest I LOVED the low stress/casual format and would love to do it this way every year.

The teachers at Discovery planned and held a drive by parade for all of the students to say goodbye to their teachers. the weather didn't want to cooperate and it ended up being a downpour:((

Even though it feels like we've been on summer break for the past 2.5 months we are excited to officially kick-off 2nd Summer!!!
