Happy Halloween

This year Kyler wanted to pick his own costume:((
I like to coordinate our costumes with a theme, but I gave in
and let him choose whatever he wanted.
(after all Halloween is for the kids)

He knew all along what he wanted to be, and
didn't change his mind.
(Good thing for mom)

He loved his costume, but was disappointed that it didn't have a
scary mask. Jason ended up painting a scary face for him.
(Face paint and four year olds don't go well together.
Only lasted for a 1/2 hour then it was a smeared mess)

Luckily I had picked up some pirate costumes a few years ago
when they were 90% off.
So we decided to go with a Pirates/Skeleton Theme.

All Things Halloween...

WOW!!!
I am so ready for tomorrow to be over.
It feels like we have celebrated Halloween for 30 days straight.
I love this time of year and all of the holidays, but I think
we are ready to move on to a new month and HOLIDAY:))

Here are a few more ways that we have celebrated Halloween.
We made our way out to Paul's Patch and loaded up on
some pumpkins while they were 2 for $1.00.

Kyler being entertained while he waits for dad to
pick him up from preschool.
By far the most fun we have had celebrating was at
Aunt Kami's Halloween Party.
She went all out!!!
The decorations, games, food, and photo booth
made for a fun night.

Now if I can just make it through 2 Halloween parties with 24 preschoolers, host a parent/student trunk or treat, get Kyler ready in his costume for his preschool party and drop him off on time, dress up as a family and go trick-or-treating, followed by a Halloween party at my parents house, and stop by 3 grandma's houses then Halloween will officially be OVER:))))

Fall Harvest

Last week for FHE we went to the
American West Heritage Center.
Kyler and I needed something fun and out of the house after sitting home alone for 4 days while Jason was on his guy's fishing trip. Especially since it happened to fall during our Fall Break.

While we were there we:

Rode the train.

Shot BB Guns and threw tomahawks.

Wandered through the corn maze and
had fun picking the cobs of corn.

Rode the ponies.

Launched gourds and corn on the cob.

Slid on the not so slippery giant slide.

It was the perfect way to spend a Fall evening:)))

Weekend Words...

It was another BEAUTIFUL weekend!!!
I love FALL and wish that it could last for a few months.
We had a busy and fun weekend, here are a few of the highlights.

Friday night lights. Homecoming.
 Fireworks after each touchdown.
1 Year anniversary of Gary's passing.
Reminiscing. Tears. Decorating cemetery.

Trick-or-treating at the local grocery store.
Pumpkin spice donut and apple cider.
Games played at the community  carnival.

Kyler's 1st primary program.
Our 1st primary program as parents.
Being distracted, playing with tie, waving to us,
and eventually crying because he was tired of sitting up there and wanted to come down by us.
Kyler's speaking part:
I am a Child of God. I love Jesus because he gave me my instruments, my mom & dad, and my pants."
Family Home Evening at Grandma Shirley's house.
Pumpkin dessert. Cookie decorating.
Pumpkin Carving.

You'll Shoot Your Eye Out

Kyler got his very own BB Gun for his
4th Birthday.
(Even though it's recommended for ages 10+)
We sit in our backyard and practice shooting
at the target on a daily basis.
He is so proud of himself when he hits the target,
which is most of the time.
So last night when he found out that for mutual the
boys were going target shooting he was
SUPER EXCITED
to show the big boys his gun.

Even though he is 10-12 years younger than most of these boys
he feels like he is one of them
and can do what they do.

Don't grow up too fast Ky-Ky.
You have to stay my little boy forever:))

Fall Break...

We enjoyed a beautiful Fall Break last week.
The weather was beautiful, the leaves were in full color,
and we had a few days free from preschool and other responsibilities.

On Wednesday we enjoyed a beautiful picnic in the park before dad left on
his annual guys fishing trip,

On Friday, Kyler and I decided to enjoy a little day out together.
We went to the Dinosaur Park and had fun walking around checking out all of
the dinosaurs.

Fall Family Photos...

Fall always brings with it the idea of taking
FAMILY PICTURES
in the beautiful changing leaves.

Anytime I even mention this idea it becomes a HUGE hassle and usually ends up in an argument, tears, and a total disaster:((
Because I'm too cheap to hire a photographer I usually take along my camera, tripod, and timer.
This usually results in 50 pictures like the ones below and if I'm really lucky I end up with maybe 5 that will actually work until next year when we try it all over again:)))
