January's Little Things

January has been a pretty low key month with a lot of inside time.
We have tried to find things to do to keep us from going stir crazy, but I'm always happy to see the month come to an end:))

Jason and Kyler worked together to build the 600 piece robot that Kyler got for Christmas. It ended up turning out better than I thought and was worth the money.

Kyler was excited to finally have a loose tooth.
Khloe decided to help it fall out a little sooner and hit it with a toy drum stick, which left it only hanging by a thread.

We tried to take advantage of the snow during the month and spent some time out playing in it.

Jason has loved the month and all of the snow that the mountains have gotten. He has defiantly put his season pass to good use:)

Trying to ride the motorcycle inside.

Uncle Ty got a new puppy and the kids have been in heaven playing with it. It has also reminded me how much work a puppy is and is making the decision to get one even harder.

Kyler has been learning about signs, symbols, and self at school .
One of the projects he has been working on his creating a family flag. We were able to go to his gallery walk and see all that he has been working on.

Kyler and Jason put their creative skills to use and worked together on their pinewood derby car.
It wasn't that fastest, but it was the most creative:)

Habits

I'm the type of person that loves to make lists and check things off daily. So typically when a new year starts I make a list of
"New Year Resolutions."
After years of doing this I have decided to change my way of thinking and instead of working to check things off of my list, I've decided to pick just a couple of things for the coming year that I want to improve on and make a habit of in my life.

In 2015 I set a goal for myself to read from the scriptures everyday. At first it wasn't something that I really enjoyed
(is that okay to admit?)
but as I stuck to it, because I had to check it off my daily list, I started to find it enjoyable and it became a habit.
I was able to read from the scriptures all 365 days of last year.

So for 2016 I knew that I had to make daily family scripture study a priority. It has always seemed somewhat daunting even though I know it's critical in this day and age.
We gathered some children's versions of the Book of Mormon and to my surprise Kyler looks forward to it every night and it has been enjoyable!!!

The kids aren't always perfect, but I know that they are learning and it has invited the spirit into our home and that
is well worth it.

After we have finished reading through the children's versions we will start over again with this version.
I feel like it is baby steps, but it's steps in the right direction!!!

Weekend Words...

Finding something to do on the weekend during the
Winter months can be somewhat challenging.
After being cooped up day in and day out it was time to get
out and shake things up!!!

Exploring the Treehouse Museum.

Being the star of a children's play.

Channeling our creative side.

Learning a new game.

Using our imagination to travel to a far off land.

Trying a new restaurant for the first time.
If you haven't been to Blue Lemon it is a must.
So many healthy and delicious options.

Hanging out with some of my favorite people.

Now that the weekend is over my number one priority for the coming week is to take down all of the Christmas decorations:((

A Child's Prayer

One of the things that I want to do more of during 2016 is record little snippets of the day to day life.
I feel like I take plenty of pictures and I do okay with recording the big events, but it's the little day to day things that I want to remember, especially when it comes to my kids.

Here is a  video of Kyler saying his prayers on Christmas Eve.

Thanks Kami (my sister) for teaching me how to upload a video onto blogger.
Now I just need to learn from Cami (blogger friend) how to take a bunch of video footage and turn it into one longer video.
Your Christmas video was AMAZING!!!

Ringing in 2016

I can't believe that it is 2016!!!
Time seems to go faster and faster the older I get.
We had a fun time ringing in the new year with family.

New Year's Eve we had family over for a little party.
We got brave and played some new games.
Bean-Boozled & Pie Face
Both were a hit and had everyone laughing.

Kyler and Max were pretty brave when it came to eating
"skunk spray" & "rotten eggs"

On New Year's Day we braved the freezing cold temperatures
and checked out the new ski resort in Richmond.

We enjoyed a few ski runs, tubing, and a  yummy lunch.

Here's to a new year and all that comes with it.
I'm hoping it's full of time spent with family, fun memories made, health, and growth made.
