HALLOWEEN 2011

Wow!!! What a month. I'm kind of glad that it is over. We have had a lot of fun preparing and getting ready for Halloween. Having kids seems to make the Holidays a lot more fun, especially Halloween.
(not my favorite holiday)

So we started off our Holiday weekend on Friday by going to the pumpkin walk at my mom's school. Since Annie was spending the night at grandma's house we had to hurry and find her a costume to wear. Kyler is always such a good sport about playing dress up.
(even if it is in girl's clothes)

Picking out a costume...

A Witch

                                                                      A Fairy

                                                                      A Policeman

                                                                      A Cow

                                                               Pumpkin Walk

On Sunday we got together with my family for a

                             Halloween Party

Everyone decided last minute to dress up in their costumes (or hurry and threw something together.) My family has never been very big on Halloween and especially dressing up. So it was a surprise when we got to the party and grandma and grandpa had dressed up. Although Kyler wasn't a big fan of their new appearances.

                              Halloween Night
For Halloween this year we went with a farm theme. I always like to find something that doesn't require Jason and I to spend any money. So we had a farmer, cow, and pig. Easy & Cheap!!!

                                                              Trick-or-Treating
                                   around our neighborhood.

Pumpkins, Pumpkins, and more Pumpkins

With Halloween less than a week away it seems like everything has revolved around pumpkins at our house!

We have been to the pumpkin patch
and tried to pick out the perfect pumpkins!

Kyler's decision went a little like this:

I think I like this "big green one."

I better check to make sure it's ripe.

Sitting down to think about it.

After a little persuading by mom he finally
                                         made his decision.

                               Enjoying way too many
                            pumpkin cookies.
These were the best pumpkin chocolate chip cookies.
They had a layer of cream cheese frosting in between them.

                      Attending Logan's Pumpkin Walk

The theme this year was "Our Favorite Things." I would have to agree with the picture below Adoption is our favorite thing!!!

                       Annual Pumpkin carving party
                             with the Cook's.

This was Kyler's first time actually being involved with the carving. When we were scooping out the "guts" Kyler was a bit concerned and kept saying it smelled like cow poo. (I guess he has spent too much time on the farm.)

Cousin Laker, Michael, and Kyler with their pumpkins.
After a full month of Halloween fun, I think I'm ready for it to be over. We have our big Halloween party tomorrow at preschool and trick or treating on Monday, but then we are ready to bring on THANKSGIVING!!!

FABULOUS FALL...

This year Fall has been so perfect!!! The weather has been warm the leaves have been beautiful and we have tried to take advantage of all that Fall offers. Last weekend we went for a drive up Logan Canyon and stopped at 3rd damn to have a picnic, enjoy a little hike, and play in the leaves. Of course Kyler was in Heaven being able to spend time outdoors with his dad. He loved throwing leaves in the water, trying to skip rocks, and climbing & jumping off of things.

Family Home Evenings...

The past 2 weeks for FHE we've tried to get out and enjoy a fall activity as a family. It always seems like fall goes by so quickly and there is never enough time to get in all of the fun that happens this time of year.

2 Weeks ago we went up to Docks Flat in Mantua for a picnic and to enjoy the fall leaves. I'm not sure what is going on this year, but I have yet to see the amazing leaves that we usually see this time of year. It seems like just a few have changed here and there.

Last night for FHE we went over to the American West Heritage Center in Logan. If you want a fun and cheap Fall activity this is the one I would suggest. It had a train ride, pony rides, animals, corn maze, giant slide, hay jump, gourd launcher, and a few others for only $5.00 admission. Kyler was mostly entertained by all of the old tractors and equipment that they have displayed throughout the center.

I LOVE this time of year and especially being able to spend time with my two favorite boys!!!
