Easter Weekend...

Get ready for a super LOOOONG post. I think we did more celebrating, partying, eating, and picture taking than we did on Christmas. I LOVE holidays and all of the fun that goes along with them, but I do wish that things could be spread out more, instead of cramming everything into a couple of days. We started our Easter/Spring Break weekend out on Friday morning. Every year in April my dad has to work his cows. Which includes rounding them all up, branding, vaccinating, tagging them, along with some other things. Since Kyler loves being outside and especially being with "Pa" we decided to join in on the fun.
Kyler and Annie playing outside waiting for grandpa to finish the cows so that we could have our picnic.

Kyler even got to go on his first horse ride with uncle Todd. He wasn't too sure at first, but quickly warmed up to the idea and didn't want to get off.

Since Easter fell on the same weekend we decided to dye some Easter eggs. I wasn't sure if Kyler would understand or even have an interest in this, but he LOVED it. I think he could have spent all day playing with the eggs and pretty colors.

I love this picture of him. He was in such deep thought and concentrating on dying those eggs.

After we finished coloring all of the eggs, he decided to sit and pick at on of the eggs that had cracked.

The dogs were in heaven trying to steal pieces of egg to eat. Kyler loves to feed the dogs so we was pretty entertained by this activity.

As a child growing up we always had a tradition of rolling our eggs down the hill. So we decided to walk down my parents lane and roll our eggs on our way to Grandma Grace's Easter egg hunt.

Kyler was in Heaven being able to throw the eggs and watching them break. Once again he was concentrating on what he was doing.

Because he always runs everywhere he goes, Jason had to hold on to his hood to keep him from running too fast and getting hurt.

Once we got to Grandma Grace's house all of the grandkids had an Easter Egg hunt. This was the first of many hunts that Kyler would experience in the next couple of days. He quickly discovered that those pretty eggs had "cookies" in them. That is what he calls any type of treat.Aunt Kami helping him pick up his eggs.

Enjoying a piece of candy.

On Saturday we woke up and went to the city's egg hunt at the park. Jason is a member of the Kiwanis so he was asked to help out. Kyler was a little disappointed when he picked up the first egg and their was nothing inside of it. Because this is such a big egg hunt, all of the eggs are empty and at the end you trade in your eggs for the treats.

Later in the afternoon we got together as a family to celebrate Jake's birthday. We were suppose to go to the zoo, but because of a last minute change of plan we ended up going bowling and out to eat at Sizzler.

Kyler was introduced to a new type of ball. Of course he LOVED pushing it down the little ramp and watching it roll away.

Sunday morning we had to wait until 9:45 for Kyler to wake up. He was so worn out from the past 2 days of playing that he decided to sleep in. It was great for me, because it gave me plenty of time to get up and be the Easter Bunny. We decided to make a trail of eggs starting from his room going throughout the house to different spots with his Easter goodies. Of course the first egg he picked up he had to stop and eat the candy that was inside.

Because we have 9:00 church we decided to enjoy our morning and attend 1:00 church with my parents. Jason was so thoughtful and surprised me with a new Easter dress, which I totally love.

After church we ended our day at Grandma Cook's Easter party. We enjoyed a wonderful meal, egg hunt, visiting with family, and a new tradition of a silly string fight.

Daisy & Casey

Meet the 2 newest members of our family. Daisy & Casey. Last week at preschool we learned about baby animals/farm animals. I was feeling guilty because I had planned to buy chick eggs and hatch them in class, but because of the cost ($3.50 per egg, needed at least a dozen) I decided to just go and buy some that were already hatch. When I got to southfork I thought the baby ducks were much cuter, plus Kyler LOVES ducks so we ended up buying 2 new friends. The preschool kids loved them and couldn't wait to give them their names. Daisy is the yellow one and Casey is the brown one.
Kyler wasn't sure what to think about them at first. But now every morning the first thing he says is, "Duck" so we have to go and see them first thing.
This is their home for the next 3 weeks, after that I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them. Any Ideas???

Baby Animal Days...

I couldn't wait to take Kyler to Baby Animal Day's this year, but because of the weather it ended up not being as much fun as it could have been. They ended up canceling the majority of the activities because of the SNOW and packed all of the baby animals into one small building.
The highlight for Kyler was being able to stomp around in the mud.
The highlight for me was being able to see the baby bears. That was one of the main reasons for going. They were the cutest things I have ever seen. After seeing them, Jason and I decided we need to plan a short trip up to Bear World.

I think Kyler has been spoiled by hanging out with grandpa, because he wasn't too interested in seeing the baby animals. I guess when you get to see these things regularly it looses some of it's excitement!
