Buddies

I bought myself a new camera awhile back and I've been practicing different settings. A few weeks ago Kyler and I went down to one of my dad's cow pastures for some practice. Kyler loves going with Grandpa Kelly and is always so excited to see him. I was very excited with some of the pictures that I got of them together. Thanks grandpa for letting us practice our photo taking skills with you.

(The cows aren't as close as they look. I was able to zoom in on them using one of my new lens.)

Sunny St. George

Last week we went on our annual vacation to sunny St. George with Jason's side of the family. Each year in June we plan a vacation to St. George to enjoy some nice weather and to see the shows at Tuacahn. This year Jason and I planned a little differently because of Kyler and spent a lot of our down time at parks and splash pads. The weather was absolutely perfect and we couldn't have had a better time. Spending some time as a family at one of the parks.

We took Kyler swimming for the 1st time and he LOVED it!! He just sat in his little floaty and kicked and splashed the water with his hands. It looks like we will be spending a lot of time at the pool this summer.

Sunday night after dinner we went and walked around the beautiful temple. The St. George temple is so beautiful inside and out. It is my favorite temple!!

Every morning we decided to take Kyler to a different park so that he could roll around and play, since I wouldn't let him do that in the hotel. (too dirty) I am so jealous of all of the nice parks that St. George has. He loved watching all of the kids play and the water spray from the splash pad. He wasn't sure at first, but after a couple of tries he loved getting his hands and feet wet.

One day for lunch we went to Pirate's Pizza. What a fun place for kids. It was all themed around pirates and ships. After we had finished eating we walked around the arcade and let Kyler look at all of the lights. This was his favorite one to look at. He would get so excited that he would jump up and down.

The best part of the trip for me was going to Tuacahn and watching the plays. This year they performed Cats and Tarzan. I wasn't a big fan of Cats, but LOVED Tarzan. If you have never gone to Tuacahn you should check it out some time. It has such an amazing atmosphere and the plays are always wonderful.

Since the plays didn't even start until 8:30, I decided to get Kyler ready for bed before they started in hopes that he would sleep through most of it. That was wishful thinking. He was a good boy, but there was too much going on for him to sleep.

My favorite park that we went to was the St. George Town Square. It is right in the middle of town nestled in with beautiful old buildings, mature trees, and amazing flowers. It was a great place for me to try out my new camera.

On our last full day in St. George we decided to take a scenic drive to Cedar Breaks National Monument. It was a long drive, but once we got there the views were breathtaking. One the way back to St. George we stopped by a park and let the kids play for a little while.

It was so nice to get away for a few days to just relax and play. We always seem to have such a great time in St. George and look forward to next year!!!

First Haircut

I can't believe that Kyler is old enough to have his first haircut. It was kind of a bitter sweet moment for me. I wasn't sure if I wanted to cut off his baby hair, but he looks so adorable with his big boy hair style. We decided to take him to a kid's salon for the first time, mainly because we weren't sure how to cut it and we didn't want to mess it up. I think we will continue to taking him there until he is old enough to sit some what still.
He was so excited to sit in the little race car. He was bouncing up and down having all kinds of fun until he came down and hit his mouth on the steering wheel.

I Love this picture he looks so grown up.

After being a good boy he got a balloon and sucker.

Happy Birthday Annie

My niece Annie turned 1 this week so I decided to play photo shoot with her and take some one year old pictures. I think she wonders about her crazy aunt Kaylee who is always taking pictures of her. She did really well for the first 20 minutes or so, but then she decided that she had had enough.

Memorial Day 2010

It's official, summer has begun and I couldn't be happier!!! Sunday afternoon was spent with the Cook family grilling and being outdoors. Oh, how I love the smell of food being grilled.
Kyler giving GG a nice arm workout. He loves to jump up and down while being held.
Every year on Memorial Day we have a family reunion with my mom's side of the family, in honor of my great grandma Alice. She was such an amazing women and such a great role model for her family. She was an amazing cook and would share her talents with her family every Sunday night as we all gathered at her home for dinner. That was a tradition that she carried on her entire life. (She lived to be 95+ years old)

This was her beautiful home that we would meet at for every holiday and Sunday night dinners.
Here she is making her famous Christmas biscuits.

This is a picture of most of her family (minus a few men who were working). It amazes me that she kept a family of this size together for so many years. I guess the old saying that says "If a family eats together, they stay together." is true.
Here is a picture of all of the great, great grandchildren that were born in the last year. I'm sure Grandma Alice is missing these 8 sweet babies as much as we miss her!!

I've said it before, but I feel so blessed to have such an amazing family and to be able to have them be apart of my life. I'm so thankful for those who have passed on to the other side for their sacrifices and examples. And I'm especially grateful for the knowledge that after this life we will be reunited with those loved ones.
