Weekend Words

Sunshine.
Warm Weather.
 Spring Clean-up.
(Mowed the lawn for the 1st time this season.
I'm sure the neighbors wonder about me, but it's easier to mow than to rake up leaves.)

Went for walks.
Tested out Kyler's new wheelchair.
Blew bubbles.

Grilled for the 1st time this season.
Enjoyed the longer days.
(Can't wait for the time to change)

Got out of the house for the 1st time in a week.
Norm of the North Matinee.
 Wrestled Khloe for 90 minutes.
( She doesn't sit for movies like she use to:((

Sunday dinner with the Cooks.
Good Weekend!!!

Feeling the LOVE

It's been a week since Kyler's accident and even though it's been a rough week, we have been blessed and have felt the love from so many friends and family.

Kyler has had a lot of visitors and has been spoiled with gifts to keep him busy while he is layed up.
(Hopefully all of this attention and being spoiled isn't going to his head:))

I've appreciated the yummy meals that have been brought in.
It's so nice to have one less thing to worry
about in an already busy day!!!

I'm always amazed when trials arise the love and support that people render. It is a reminder that I need to try and do better to give service to those in need.

Ski Season comes to an end:((

What started out as a beautiful family ski day ended with Kyler getting injured and us all
wishing the day had never happened:((

With less than an hour left of the day and what happened to be the last run, Kyler's luck ran out. The older guys wanted to hit up one more harder run before leaving while Kyler and Annie begged to go with grandpa on the same lift that we had been doing all day.

They ended up transporting Kyler by ambulance to
Primary Children's Hospital.

After a lot of tears and screaming they finally were able to get an IV in and some medicine to help with the pain.

The x-ray confirmed that he broke his left femur.
We were given two options:
1. Surgery to have a plate put in to secure that bone that will have to be taken out 8-12 months from now with another surgery.
OR
2. A cast from his chest all the way down the hurt leg and part way down the other in a sitting position for 12 weeks.

We decided that surgery would be the best option, even though it will require a second one in the coming year.
He went in around 9:15 pm and came out around 11:00 pm.

So for the next 6 weeks Kyler can be found cruising around in a wheelchair, laying around watching movies, playing video games, drawing/coloring, and getting lots of extra attention and love:))

Husband in training

Last weekend when Jason and Kyler showed up with
flowers for me and Khloe for Valentine's Day
(and I was feeling guilty because I hadn't gotten him anything)
Jason said something that has stuck with me all week.
He said, "Thanks for giving me the opportunity to teach Kyler how to treat a women."

Of course there are many ways to show your love and appreciation for your spouse, but it made be realize how important it is for our children to see a loving relationship between a husband and a wife, especially in this day and age.

Kyler has a pretty great example of what a loving
husband/father should be.
One day in the far off future he is going to make one lucky
girl really happy:)

Weekend Words...Valentine's Edition

On a list of favorite holidays Valentine's Day falls close to the bottom for me. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the people in my life very much, but I feel like expectations are high and I always feel guilty for not getting Jason something.
(I don't think he would really appreciate getting flowers or stuffed animals:))
However, this year ended up being pretty GREAT!!!

The day before Valentine's Day Jason and I enjoyed a fun date.
My parent's offered to tend the kids so that we could go out and celebrate. I'm not sure who was more excited the kids or us!!!

We enjoyed a yummy dinner at one of my favorite restaurants, Goodwood. It's so enjoyable going out to eat with no kids.
I actually get to enjoy my meal and Jason and I can talk without being interrupted.

I have always wanted to attend one of Dr. Matt Townsend's
"Date Nights"
and it just so happened that it fell on Valentine's weekend.
It was such a fun night. Not only did we laugh through the whole thing, we learned how to improve our marriage.

Food and holidays always seem to go hand in hand.
We enjoyed eating as many heart shaped food as possible.

Valentine's night we had a fun party at grandma & grandpa's house. When all the cousins get together it's always a lot of fun and a lot of noise. We enjoyed a yummy dinner and the cousins exchanged Valentine's with one another.

Weekend Words...The Good and the bad

The Good...
We've been waiting for a sunny/nice weekend to do a family ski day all winter and we finally lucked out this past weekend.
The older I get the more I cherish days like this where the family is all together (We missed you Boo) and having fun.

Breakfast at Jeremiah's.

First time skiing for cousin Max.

Grandma practicing and gaining more confidence.

Finally getting to spend the day on the slopes with my boys.

Cousins having fun and developing friendships.

Enjoying the beautiful mountains, sunshine, and fresh air.

The Bad...
When we went to leave the ski resort we noticed we had picked up a nail and had a flat tire.

On the last run of the day, Kyler decided to hit a jump in the terrain park which didn't end well. He ended up landing on his head which was hard enough to dent his helmet. After complaining that his neck hurt we took him in to have it x-rayed. Luckily his neck was fine and tonsillitis was the cause of the pain.

Also over the weekend the alternator on Jason's car decided to go out and the garage door broke. So after spending all of today trying to fix the problems that happened over the weekend, we are ready for another break. Here's to hoping next weekend goes a bit better!!

Pictures in the Snow

When you wake up on a Saturday morning and your backyard looks like this, an updated family picture is a must have!!!

Most often the impromptu family photo's turn out the best.
We picked out some coordinating clothes, set up the tri-pod, and 15 minutes later I had some shots that I was really happy with!!
