We Need Your Help!

It has been about 2 months since we were approved for adoption and not much has happened. We haven't expected things to happen right away and we are trying to have patience, but it has been somewhat frustrating. LDS family services has just recently changed they way the do adoptive couples profiles. The old way was for couples to create a 2 page scrapbook layout, write a letter to the birthparents, and create an online profile. The case worker then would send that information to all of the agency's in the state, so when a potential birthmom came in the office they could look at the different couples. Right in the middle of trying to get approved they changed the whole process, so now the only way birthmom's can view couples is by looking on the website. Eventually I think it will be a good change, but currently it is very frustrating. The website is still in the beta testing phase so if a birthmom goes to it's about love it will take her to the old site, which we are not on. So I find it very frustrating that it has been 2 months now and our profile really hasn't even gone live. So back to my title We Need Your Help! Jason and I would just ask that if you happen to know of anyone who may be considering adoption that you would pass along our information. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The more people that know we are trying to adopt the greater our chances are. I have linked our adoption agency and our adoption blog to the side of this blog. Feel free to check it out.

What will March Bring?

So let me start by backing up a couple of months ago to December. It was the night before we left to go up to Park City for a few days to celebrate Jason's birthday. I was busy cleaning my house before we left (I don't know what it is, but my house has to be spotless and everything has to be in it's proper place before I can leave on vacation.) Well I had the washing machine going, the dishwasher running, and I had just gotten out of the shower. I ran downstairs to get a suitcase to start packing and as I stepped into the family room downstairs my foot suddenly became wet. We have an unfinished bathroom in the basement that has a drain pipe that is exposed. Well I guess we had a backed up pipe and when all of the water from the shower, washer, and dishwasher tried to go down it backed up and started flooding our basement. It was late at night and we weren't able to get a hold of a plumber so we mopped everything up and had fans running to try and dry the carpet. When we got home from our trip to Park City we had a plumber come out and unplug and clean our pipes. That was not how we planned to spend our extra money, especially in December.

So January rolls around and it is one of the coldest weeks of the whole year. I come home from work one day to a house that is freezing. I go the the thermostat to see what the temperature is and it says it's 52 degrees. I call Jason at work and ask him if he knows what is wrong with the furnace. He gives me a few suggestions of things to try to see if I can reset it. I try, nothing works. So two days later after freezing to death in our house we end up getting our furnace replaced. Not exactly how I had planned to spend money we got from Christmas.

Well it was Saturday night the last day of February and I was thinking to myself that we had made it through the month without an unexpected major expense. Well I guess I thought wrong, because as we were headed to Salt Lake to watch the 3A boys basketball championship, my car started acting funny. The steering wheel started to shake and it was making a loud grinding noise. We quickly exited the freeway and pulled into a gas station. To make a long story short we ended up sitting at the gas station for 2 hours waiting for a tow truck to come and pick up our car. It has been in the shop for the last 2 days and I'm a little nervous to see the bill when we go and pick it up.

So back to my previous question, I wonder what March will bring? I sure hope it is something good!!!
